GENERAL CUSTOMS REGULATIONS:
- CUSTOMER’S PRESENCE IN PERU IS REQUIRED FOR CUSTOMS CLEARANCE
- Household goods and personal effects dutiable (The average rate for duty and tax is 14%)
- Household goods previously exported from Peru may be imported duty-free with supporting documents (Inventory, Export Policy, etc.) stamped by Peruvian Customs
- Shipment should arrive within 180 days after customer last arrival
- OBL or AWB must read: “used personal effects and household”
- The Peruvian Customs imposes fines on shipments arriving with wrong weights. Please make sure to declare on the shipping documents the exact weight, otherwise, the amount of the penalty will be deducted to Agent at origin.
A. DIPLOMATS
Documents required for import: - 2 Original OBL or AWB.
- List of contents must be in Spanish – avoiding “PBO” items (packed by owner) Inventory must be in detail and contain brand name and serial numbers of electrical appliances
- Original Passport.
- Diplomatic Franchise issued by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs
- Legalized Power of Attorney and Personal Declaration (form will provide by Blue Horizon Shipping Inc)
(**)Shipments subject to physical inspection by customs request. Additional charges will apply.B. FOREIGN All shipments of foreign-owned (non-diplomats) are subject of 14% customs duties, applied to the shipment value determined by Customs after the physical inspection. If customer wants to be present at time of inspection should coordinate with our Import Department.

C. RETURNING (Peruvians) Shipments of Peruvian citizens returning to the country are subject to 14% customs duties on the value of the shipment as determined by Customs after the inspection.
In addition, the client shall support living abroad for the past 13 consecutive months and to a maximum of 30 consecutive days for visit purposes.
Household goods previously exported of Peruvian citizens returning to the country may be imported duty-free with supporting documents (OBL/AWB, export declaration Form –DUA and packing list).
Documents required for import: - 2 Original OBL or AWB.
- List of contents must be in Spanish – avoiding “PBO” items (packed by owner) Inventory must be in detail and contain brand name and serial numbers of electrical appliances.
- Original Passport.
- Two letters for Customs Authorities (we will provide sample of content)
DOCUMENTS REQUIRED FOR IMPORT:
- 2 Original AWB or 2 OBL’s.
- Original Title as proof of ownership
- Original commercial Invoice – fully detailed
- Original passport of the owner.
- Custom Form (DUA) must be signed by the consignee and will be provide by Blue Horizon Shipping Inc.
- Insurance certificate or letter for not insuring
- Technical Inspection certificate
- Gas Emission Certificate.
- Diplomat´s vehicles (foreign or Peruvian) required the diplomatic franchise of tax-free resolution issued by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Peru
PROHIBITED ITEMS:
- Firearms and telecommunication equipment require a special license prior to arrival of goods
- Firearms also require proof of ownership and a previous license must be obtained from the Ministry of Interior (no automatic arms are allowed) Subject to confiscation if requirements are not met
- Narcotics and drugs
- Pornographic material
- Explosives
- Telecommunications equipment
DUTIABLE/RESTRICTED ITEMS:
- New items less then six months old (Commercial Invoice required)
- Food and beverages
- Electronic and electrical items are dutiable (load near container door for easy access)
- Antiques
- Medicine (permit from Ministry of Health required)
- Weapons and ammunition (hunting permit and firearm acquisition certificate required). Only smooth-barreled hunting weapons are permitted.
- Books, records and cassettes and compact disks
- A list must be provided stating the title and name of author for each item
- These items will be viewed by the Ministry of Information before a censorship visa is granted. Place any dutiable/restricted items near container doors for easy access.
- Portable phones must be approved by the Ministry of P.T.T.
PETS:
- Documents required:
- Vaccination and Rabies vaccination Certificate
- Health Certificate
VEHICLES IN GENERAL:
- Vehicles should not exceed 5 years from the year of manufacture or 80,000 kms
- Without exception, every motor vehicle to be imported to Peru, new or used, must have a “Certificate of Emission Gases” and a Technical certification
- New vehicles will pay an estimated 37 % duties on the CIF value (9% custom tax+18%Sales Tax,+10% Perception)
- Used vehicles will pay an estimated 67% duties on the CIF value (9% custom tax+ 30% Selective tax + 18%Sales Tax,+10% Perception)
- All diplomatic are entitled to import duty free with franchise from Peruvian Ministry of Foreign Affairs. Only one vehicle is authorized.
- Subject to physical inspection by Peruvian Customs Authorities.
